Three privacy products that are virtually identical are Tracks Eraser Pro, Web Eraser Pro, and Internet Washer. Other than color and logo changes and one or two feature differences, they are identical in design and functionality. Web Eraser Pro and Internet Washer are OEM versions of Tracks Eraser Pro. There is a large discrepancy in price; $29.95 for Tracks Eraser Pro, $49.95 for Web Eraser Pro, and $79.95 for Internet Washer.
Tracks Eraser Pro is a very good product. It is very easy to install and to use. One really nice feature, especially for novice computer users, that none of the other competitors included was a preview mode that would allow you to see what it would cleanup without actually deleting anything. Another nice feature allowed you to protect your homepage settings.
Tracks Eraser Pro was an easy application to install. This product is Vista and Explorer 7 compatible.
Tracks Eraser Pro lacked some of the privacy features that were necessary for a complete and effective privacy protection software.
The plugin function contained in Tracks Eraser Pro was not real intuitive, but after studying it for a short time you can determine which plugins you can delete, leave alone, or re-install. A plugin is a small piece of interface software that allows your computer to erase information like the history of the last used files within desktop applications like browsers, email, instant messaging, chat, P2P, image viewers, graphical editors, etc. Tracks Eraser Pro's customization options dealing with files, directories, and registries were a little cumbersome to use.
The help documentation was average.
Overall, Tracks Eraser Pro is a very good product. It didn't have as many options as some of the other products, but it did cover most of the major issues related to privacy protection.
